Best True Stories Contest!

Mine is a chicken-kid story. I just love to share it and I understand if it doesn't count!

The Chickens and the Bees

My daughter has helped raise our hens from the moment we got them when she was 6-years-old. She has been learning everything from how to candle an egg to how to check for bumblefoot. She wanted to know about everything a chicken farmer does in the process of breeding, hatching, and raising birds. She even earned the nickname "the Chicken Whisperer."

Unfortunately, not all parenting can be done through poultry raising lessons and I had another parenting lesson arrive when we found out a friend was HIV positive. We have always insisted on being honest with our daughter so when she asked questions, we answered them. We told her she didn't need to worry because you could only get it through blood or through sex.

My daughter, the Chicken whisperer says, "Oh, then I don't need to worry, I've already been sexed."

And that was the beginning of my daughter learning the difference between HAVING sex and BEING sexed.

Here is my story,

Once my chicken, candy, was in the coop laying an egg. It was about 110 degrees outside, she stayed in their for a long time, I was starting to get worried. When I went in, she came out of the coop and was flapping and flying all over the place, she was having a heat stroke, and was dieing. I thought it was over for my poor little candy! She was lying on the floor, panting and rolling all over. I prayed to God that he would let my candy get well again! While she was lying on the floor, my sister took the hose and sprayed all around her, she started to calm down a bit. She rolled around in the water for awhile, than she slowly got up and started walking around again!! Eventually, she was a back to her normal self, running around with the others, etc.. God is so good! He answered my prayer!

It was a miracle!!

Thank you very much!!

And yes, I believe that anything that has been through something rough but made it, was meant to be here!

And you have to wonder, such a small creature (a chicken) could have a stroke and you know the size of their body! It's like, wow! Their little hearts and bones! It is pure amazing if they make it!!

Again, thank you for sharing little Candy's story,
it sure is special!
