Best Watering System

My DW fount has frozen entirely during nights of "just" +20F. Maybe a metal container w/horizontal nips that I can rest on a heating base during the colder nights? That might work.

So far, I have yet to see any ice in my bucket and the horizontal nipples I use are working great. I got it after I had to thaw my entire bucket when it froze solid overnight >.<

I like that. Problem is it will make it difficult to put a lid on the fount/bucket/whatever. But I'm an industrious little lad...

I use a 40 gallon plastic barrel with snap on lid. Horizontal nipples with tray underneath to catch dripped water. Stock tank heater inside barrel (Thermostat controlled) to keep water from freezing....Lasts a long time between fill ups - 20 hens and two roosters.....
