Best way to become more knowledgeable about breeds

In your opinion what should I do to become more knowledgeable about breeds? Do I just need to hang out on this forum a whole bunch? I've had multiple people private message me about breeds/genders and I have no idea

I spent a lot of time engrossed in reading chicken catalogs and learned many different kind of breeds, I also learned some more from BYC and other places on the internet.

Here is a chart that I have found helpful - it doesn't list all breeds but a lot. Also, looking at hatchery catalogs can give you quite a bit of knowledge. Happy learning!

Going to shows and auctions are both good ways to become more knowledgeable on breeds as well.

STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! Read tons of stuff on this website. Read chicken books and magizenes which you can find on hatcheries website. Go to shows. talk to breeders and knowlable show people. Get on breeders websites. Heck, private message people who seem to know what they are talking and ask them questions!
