Best way to Identify One Chicken from the other? CableTies Question p2

It just came off in the dirt...

My chickens don't bite their nails...I told them it is a horrible habit to start...they are good chickens.

Those look decent, they don't bother the chickens at all.. don't catch on stuff or anything?
Do they come in pink?
What section of Home depot are they in? I'm sure if i ask one of their experts they will tell me they have never heard of such thing. - Standard, "I'd rather not help you" responce from hourly employees

I've never seen pink ones but you might find them. Sometimes they are color-coded for "indoor" and "outdoor" ... I think it's so that they don't become brittle when exposed to lots of UV, but for chicken bands I don't think it would matter.

Check the electrical section first. But they are sometimes found in different places. If you ask for "cable ties" they REALLY should know what you are talking about. But look in the electrical section where lots of various things in small bags are all placed together and you should find them.

I may switch to these ... we are using the velcro bands right now but they DO play in the mud and all become brown. More of an issue, my chickens still pull them off sometimes, so some are wearing bands and some are not. (I think it's because they make great "chase me I've got something you don't have!" toys) I'll keep trying for a while though.

Leg rings are brilliant. I have the plastic purpose-made sort, and they work really well. In general the mud will just rub off, so that isn't a problem. They're only about 10p (20c) each, even when you buy them individually, so it's not going to break the bank.

I used to have two light sussexes who, once they had matured, look exactly the same . . . it wasn't until they got legbands that I could tell them apart.

I have a bag of them that are hot pink, electric blue, bright green, yellow and orange. I bought them to use when I make parrot toys, which is why I chose the wild colors. DH always buys white and wanted some of these, as soon as he saw them.

I got some of those cable ties, they are interior and were the only ones I could find at the hardware store.
These are 8 inch and I think the end may be a bit bulkey.

Where all, have you gotten them?
What size are the ones you got?

Thanks for the info,

I've gotten multi-packs of cable ties, or "zip strips" as my hubby calls them, at the Dollar Store. We got through tons of them, no idea why

, but at our Dollar Tree, there is a little hardware section, and they have packs of red, yellow and green and other packs with orange, blue and black.

Now I gotta go get more zip strips so I can tell my barred rocks apart, lol.
