Best way to trap a fox?

I'm really hesitant to choose my method because I don't know what I can't do here and the property that the fox spends the most time on just so happens to be owned by a cop.
I don't want to get in legal trouble but I do want to kill this fox pair/family

Would installing an electric fence be a better option? If the end goal is to keep the fox out, and the options for trapping/eliminating are few. Maybe looking into other methods of denial would be a better course of action.
We could. Our barn is equipped for that. But I would think a fox would just dig under an electric fence.

Foxes are very smart. I’ve heard this is a pretty good way to trap it.
Place the trap outside for a while without bait. Put some meat out in the yard near the trap, which should be covered and disguised with hay or leaves. Every day put the meat a little closer to the trap, and finally, inside. Make sure the trap is disguised really really well. Once it is trapped you should shoot it. Since you live on a culdesac, you can take it to a remote area and shoot it there.

What kind of trap do I need to use?

Okay cool.
I will certainly try.

I'll do live trapping because my outdoor cat is stupid and gets into things.
If you get one that shuts a door and doesn’t catch the leg (more humane I think, personally) then the cat should be ok. But you don’t want your scent on it or around it (handle it as little as possible) and to release the cat you’d have to.

Okay. Thanks for the help!
