Best ways to get rid of pasty butt

That's interesting. I have some issues with pasty butt with my chicks as well. However I keep a close eye on the brooder temp and it's always perfect.
There isn't one perfect temperature. If you are having issues with pasty butt try lowering the temp and see.

I did a warm water butt bath with Epsom salts then gently pulled the crud away. Then I started putting about a half tsp of ACV in their water (qt jar). No more problems.

I got rid of pasty butt today before it got them sick but I'm wondering the best way to get rid of it. I just got a warm, wet paper towel. It worked fine but I'm wondering if there's better ways and how any of ya'll do it.

Sounds like you mean best way to clean up pasty butt. I had great success cleaning dirty butts running warm water in a smooth low stream from the sink (like what you would use to rinse off a baby after a sink bath) and just running over the vent area for 2-3 minutes. Any poop comes right off in your fingers after that.

I had pasty butt issues with both brooder and broody raised chicks. Someone told me to add a splash of apple cider vinegar to their drinking water every other day and I haven't had any issues since.
