best white egg layer - that is kid friendly?

A very calm and gentle white egg layer would be a Dorking. Faverolles have a tinted egg and they are very gentle as well, generally even the roos.

My buff Minorcas lay a decent size egg. They are a smaller bird. Friendly when you handle them a lot as chicks, otherwise, not so much. They look a lot like a buff leghorn, with white legs. I had a friend's child befriend a juvenile pair this past year. She named them Ken and Barbie. Ha!

ETA, Polish are kind of quirky and lots of fun for the kids! If you want to free range them, they will need their feathers trimmed around their eyes though.

None of my white layers are 'friendly' but I don't play with them. I'm sure they would have been different if someone else owned them.
That said, I can't complain about any of them -
White Minorca (big bird and 70+ gram eggs)
Anconas(extremely hardy)
Jaers (barely larger than a bantam but lay full size eggs and extremely cold hardy)
Black Leghorn (good layers, 1 has been broody and was a good mom)

We love our leghorn!

The only one my daughter can catch and she's a nice size for kids to hold.
She's been laying since Summer and I don't think she's missed a day yet (laying).

I have White Jersey Giants. Lay a large tinted egg and are great with kids. My two year old grandson helps me gather eggs and they are great around him. Very gentle giants.

I have had mostly brown and ee layers but have had a few white egg layers. The calmest was a buff polish ( from meyers hatchery) and sultans(also from meyers). I have bought most of my birds there for the last 8 years and have had no problems with any of them being healthy and being easily tamed. But if you want a good white layer that is easily tamed imo is a polish.
