Whats the best way to candle an egg?

I have peafowl, so i think (so I could so be wrong) that peafowl eggs are much harder to penetrate with light.

What do you use to candle an egg??

kk u can e3ither buy i candler online but i would reccomend taking a flashlight and cupping your hand over the top of it and go in a dark room and put the egg on top with the big side down im not really sure about telling if its developing or not though

with the eggs that i find from the free ranging peafowl, I often find that when I candle them - they are already dark inside and have formed the air bubble.

??? does that mean fertile and developing?

Glad to see some good people tonight!!! Thank you for your help!

No prob. Every egg has air bubble all the time unless it was popped.. And the dark spot might be chicks but i think it is the yolk. If you candle the magain at day 8 you should definitly be able to see development if fertile. Good Luck!

Thanks so much!!

So is LED the best light to use with a thick shell, I've got one hatching right now!!!!!!!!!! (its a miracle baby, we didn't think it would make it)

Haha i saw your miracle chick pics on the other post. Enjoy the Peachick! And yes LED is the best to use. It is alot bright and a stronger light you will see inside the egg sooo much better. I used to have a regular flashlight and i always find myself changing the batteries to make it brighter:barnie. So yes use LED.

Lets hope miracle fully hatches and is going to be healthy!

The baby hatched and is running about in the bator, should I consider a brooder with the small capacity that I have, only 5-10 chics at a time??
