better layers??

We have some buff orps right now,we are abut to get some RI reds, ...does anyone know which would come out on top as the better layers? or where I might find the info on this?

Thanks for the info. According to the 'pet' place, the reds give approx. 5/week and the buffs 3/week! Our bufs were giving us more than just 3/week, they were doing good and giving 5-7 eggs a week, we've been really tickled with them. Some people South of town are goiing on an extended vacation this summer, and thought it would be easier to just give their 'reds' away! Fine by us!!

I've got both and have had both from various sources for some years now. I'd say they lay much about the same. B.O.'s do tend to go broody more while R.I.R.'s seldom if ever do, but otherwise they lay about the same.
