Better than Craigslist?

Anyone know of a better place than Craigslist to sell off guinea eggs and keets? I have not been having much luck selling off my keets and have pretty much shut down the incubators for the season. This weekend I was weedwacking around an area I have not hit in a couple of weeks and found a pile of over 3 dozen eggs. Now I would like to sell off the eggs but I have not been having any luck on Craigslist. Since the eggs are probably only viable for a few more days, perhaps they will be heading for the refrigerator soon.

If you're from Sanford NC then Wicked Chicken auction in Clayton or the other other auction known as 581 auction, there's another that started up in Middlsex.
I passed on an auction for 3 week old that sold for $4.50 each, the auction I won were $2.50 each and about 2 or 3 week old.

Adults or 6 months old went for anywhere around $8 or $10 each.

Never saw any eggs for sale at the auction...might start a trend!

Another alternative is a chicken swap...Next one that I know of around here is Fayatteville.

Thanks for the feedback. I know about the local auctions. I have been to the Broadway Auction and to the Flock Swaps in Sanford. Problem with those is that you are normally selling your wares for bottom dollar. I did see someone selling guinea eggs at the Auction and I think he got about $2.00 for a dozen hatching eggs. At that price I might as well just turn them into dinner, considering it costs more than that in gas to get there. I have sold some keets at the Auction and got an average price of about $2.50 per keet for week-olds. I saw some older ones sell for the same price. Still amazes me that the local feed store can sell the keets for $7ea and they have trouble keeping them in stock for most of the summer. Perhaps I should just raise them through the winter and sell them as adults in the spring. This year at least, the adults have been selling for close to $20ea by a lot of places.

I can't get the Buy-Sell-Trade section here to work for me! Very frustrating!!!!! Grrr. But anyway, I've had some luck selling keets in the Georgia Market Bulletin - a state Poultry and Livestock (among many other things) newsletter that advertises for sellers. My add cost $5.00. Worth it. See if your state has something similar. Also, I put up flyers at local feed stores. Not much luck there, but you never know.

The money you get from an auction isn't worth the travel, in which case, toss the eggs if they're older. It seems harsh, but unless you're prepared to hatch, raise, house and feed the guineas, what choice do you have?

There's always ebay, too. You might have better luck selling eggs on ebay, but I'm not sure if you can buy/sell hatched guineas there. Worth checking out.

I've had great luck selling guineas on the Backyard Chicken Facebook page for Georgia. Great people, great knowledge and lots of support. I'm sure there's one for your state. Try that, too.

But I feel your pain! I'm going to stop hatching eggs because a) it's late in the season, b) I'm going to wait until spring when I think most people want guineas, and 3) I can gather my own eggs next year (no more shipped for me!) and hatch a few at a time.
