Bielefelder family reunion

I got started in Bielefelders this year too! I got rid of all of my Bresse to make room. I'm so excited about the breed. I hatched some out earlier this year and I have more eggs in the incubator right now!
I mostly got my hatching eggs from a Ebay seller in Minnesota. I got a few female chicks from Cackle Hatchery. Right now eggs in the incubator are from Minnesota and Omega Hills Farms. 😁

Here's a picture of my girls from Cackle earlier this year. I got them in April and hatched mostly boys in April.

So my Skywalker eggs hatched last week. I only had 3 hatch out of the 11 eggs and they are all boys. Really!!!! :barnie Oh well! Welcome to the family Luke, Anikan and Vader!!!

Um..well...**kicks pebble**..... we are all related anyway. That's good, right??
Welcome boys!! :frow
(pssst...your sisters aren't too smart so perhaps it's a good thing y'all are boys!)

Update:

My kids are about 9 weeks old now and MUCH happier since I put them outside. The descriptions of the Bieles in various places aren't kidding when they post that they do not like confinement!

The area they are in is not huge and it took about a week for them to calm down about my presence, but now they will take treats from my hands and gather around when I call them. This is the type of chick behavior I am used to unless I'm raising a known flighty breed.

They are not in with the whole flock yet, and last week when I put a 13 week pullet in there (at night) who was getting picked on in the larger teenager pen, the lead cockerel (there are 2 Biele boys) picked on her pretty good. But, his smaller size amounted to just some chasing and a few minor pecks. All is settled and everyone is getting along well.

How is the rest of the family doing?

I'm so excited about this breed. We process extra Cockrels so the auto sexing is perfect. This is how luck goes, I hatched 6 out of ten all girls that are 18 weeks now and so pretty. My skywalker hatch gave me another 6 of ten, 5 girls one boy...sadly the boy died. Then I tried one more time and it was a delayed shipment so I only got 3 of ten AND they were girls. So I have 14 pullets and no roo. I gave up and added a couple to my McMurray shipment at the end of the month. I love the breed so far and my eggs from skywalker were wonderfully packaged and hatched well.
By spring I should have my own flock of Biel's going and we are excited!!!
