so, if I crossed a RIR rooster over Bielefelder hens, this would be sex linked? what do the chicks look like at hatching? and older?

they Will be sex linked, but the issue is that these F1s can't be tell apart fue to them being e+/eWh. A few Rhodebar breeders hace crossed RB with RIR but the F1s could not ve sexed at hatch. They just looked like e+/eWh intermediate.

Just curious real quick to clear something up. What's the difference between auto sexing and sex link?

sex links are a cross, so you can ID males and females at hatching, auto sex are purebreds that are able to sex at hatching.

Ahh. So in function they're the same thing but genetically they're different?

Kinda... Auto sexing breeds breed true, but if you bred a sex link to another sex link the offspring would not be a sex link, just a cross breed.
