big big egg :)

Once I got a big double yolked egg, probably from one of my barred rocks! As far as I know that's the only double yolk I've gotten.

wow i dont know about this one yet but im hoping.
when you get one does the chicken normaly miss a day of laying? as mine has not yet ! i would love to know

Chickchicks, I've gotten 3 double yolkers like that before and my hens didn't miss a day afterwards. I don't know if that's how it is with all hens or if some very. You may have to just wait and see what she does.

so far she has been laying normal sized eggs ( which she never does!) and has not missed a day .

and yes IT WAS A DOUBLE YOLKER !

i cracked it open yesterday and it was very nice

Your welcome! That's so great about your double yolker! I am assuming it was your 1st one? If so, now that she laid that 1 you'll have lots more. I have 1 about once a week now! The egg in the bottom right hand corner of my picture was my 1st from my hen a couple days after she started laying eggs.

yes it was my first ever double
she has always laid large eggs at about 83 to 96 g every day but never a double ! yesterday she decided enough was enough and i didn't get an egg she deserved the one day off!
since the double she stopped laying big egs and jsut did "normal" eggs about 70g roughly but today its looking like she is going bigger again as she did a egg that was in the middle of normal to big !!!

your double looks very big in the picture bet you were very proud of that one !

I have never had an egg that large! It's huge!

I did have one hen laying some unusually large eggs for her. Yesterday, I hard boiled one for my salad wondering if it would be a double yolker, instead it was a double white! I had a full intact regular sized egg inside of another larger layer of egg white. That was kind of cool.

I think sometimes they do take a day off. I know mine has done that. Yes, it was a pretty big double yolker. I was so excited because of my hen laying it and seeing 1 for the 1st time in my life! lol My mom said I was going to have twins. lol I have 5 hens and 1 rooster. Since my hens started laying eggs my rooster Tommy has started getting cocky and attacking everything. lol
