Big egg

My chicken laid a really really big egg and when I cracked it there was another egg inside !! What causes this?

I have seen on other posts where an egg gets "sent backwards" in the egg tract and gets a second shell, but never with another yolk and egg white, too! I imagine it is the same reason... her already formed 1st egg went backwards and joined up with the next yolk+white in line and they got re-shelled together.. This is the coolest thing I've seen all week. Is she a new layer?

Yes, this^^^ is how it happens.
Am also curious about age(in weeks or months)...and breed.
