Hi, I've got a Cochin / Pekin bantam hen & an EE standard roo.

I've noticed when he mounts her she looks like she is being completely squashed. He is about 3 - 4 times larger than she is & 4 - 5 times her weight. Also he can't seem to "do the deed" properly because of her big mass of fluffy feathers on her backside, so all her back end feathers are tacky from him & he takes longer trying to get the job done than he does with the other hens.

He also mounts her the most (I'm assuming because the matings are not being 100% successful & he knows) .

I've trimmed around her vent because it started to get bad looking from "misfires", but her tail is also sticky & becoming a mess & is she safe with him mounting her? All my 4 hens wear tough hen saddles. I'm just worried about her getting squashed & damaged as she's the smallest. The other hens are EE's & bigger.

Also, I wanted to breed from her, but I've tested her eggs & so far they are coming back infertile with no development.
