Big "thing" on Aylesbury duck foot.

I wouldn’t jump right in and cut before you do post more pics it may take a day or 2 for the scab to soften up enough to peel off and that would be so much better than cutting right off. Of course always up to the one who has the bird but I always try to go the less invasive route if I can. Peeling a scab off instead of cutting.

Sometimes it’s warranted to soak and peel scab and soak again. OP get everything laid out that you need before you start. Make sure you have everything you’ll need. Nothings worse than having everything go smooth until you look down and see the vet wrap is not there!! Been there done that!:(

Hi Guys. Thanks for the advice. This was her foot after a bath in Epsom salts. The scab won’t come off. We’ve decided that taking her to the vets would be the safest option as none of us feel comfortable attempting the surgery. She’s going in later today so hopefully the problem should be sorted. Again thank you all for the advice and I will keep you updated.

Hello!! Eliza is doing fine. Vet has put her on a course of antibiotics and has advised us to keep bathing her. Vet said that she didn’t want to do surgery as it would involve a General Anesthetic which don’t mix well with birds. We are going back next week to see if there has been any improvement etc. We have bathed her again this afternoon and will continue to do so at least once a day. The antibiotics should help her, so the vet reckons, get better.
Thanks for all your support and I’ll keep you updated.
