Didn't had a hygrometor my first few hatches and the humidity was way to low.

Didn't test it right before incubating and had way to high humidity.

Opened the incubator to grab early-chicks (or should I say early-birds?) and caused shrink-wrapping (though sometimes near the end I had no choice).

Yeah, those are the worst ones I have made and I am certainly still learning!

  1. What did you do? tried and hatch eggs in my bedroom
  2. What were the consequences? Eggs never hatched
  3. Did you fix it? How? Moved bator to closet
  4. What did you learn? If you have mold on your walls the bator will suck in air around it and cause eggs not to hatch clean walls and eggs hatch. I live in an 1800 house so its old and i had mold on my walls from lack of ventilation so I cleaned walls and eggs hatched. As ive tried three times hatching at the time and none would ever hatch. Now i have my bator in my closet and get perfect hatches every time my last hatch was 8/8 hatched
Psst - that mold on your walls is bad news for you, too!

My first time incubating by myself was at our old house. I kept the incubator in our bedroom on the desk (small nurture right 360) because was super paranoid and with having a small house it was hard to find a spot out of reach of the kids and dogs. Anyways everything was going peachy until 3am on the 7th day when I was jolted out of my sleep almost falling out of bed thinking someone had just taken a shot at us....nope just an egg that exploded! The best part was by the time we realized it was an egg that exploded my husband was already standing there butt naked holding a shotgun looking like a rooster with his hair standing straight up everywhere🤣 Needless to say the incubator was never sitting on the bedroom desk again after that!
