Hi! Would be nice if they hatched w/ bands. They are pretty easy to tell at at a couple days old which pen they are from.
Way to go, Krista --- great job incubating so far!
I had marked them *11* to set them the 11th, but didn't get them set til the 12th.
Thanks! I can use all the luck I can get!
Hi! Today is the morning of Day 21 for the 'big Set'.
Had several chicks hatch during the night --- first chick out was a Serama, followed by a white Silkie.
Guess I need to get some brooders set up.
Hi! Day 21 was over as of 4:ish this afternoon. Lots of chicks out and still popping.
Got to put fans in those still-airs if I'm going to keep using them(got the fans, just got to install them).
Lots of pipless eggs still and a few I can see have pipped and died. Sadly, there is a splash NN chick and a blue Am' chick (from the bator that quit) that hatched without absorbing their yolks. I doubt they'll make it til morning. Poor things...
I'll move the chicks out to brooder(s) in the morning and get pics.
My spare bedroom has rubbermaid totes lined up with shoplights and 75 watt bulbs.
... what are you going to do with so many chicks?
It still remains to be seen whether there will be "so many chicks".
Don't you need a few? Some are spoken for already and I'll pick some to keep.
I am (to quote Tom) a greedy-chicken-hoarder, and wish I could keep them all for myself.
