Bikers and Chicks

awsome!!

i never realized how many bikers we had here.
quad, good luck with your project, i would love to find a '64 pan with a suicide shifter as a basket.
rocket, love y'all's scoot, i'm dying to get our sporty fixed up for dawn so we can get a heavy cruiser for the longer trips we'd like to make. we just don't feel safe riding our sporty on the interstate, between the 2 of us we barely tip the scales @ 250 lb. not much weight on a 6oo lb. bike. semis blow us all over the place on the secondary roads, we'd be like a ping pong ball on the interstates.
cheers

Just thought I'd tell all you women that ride (in case you don't already know).....there is a great group of women bikers called "The Motor Maids". They have local chapters all over the states. They get together for conventions, parades, etc. Locally there are rides, parties, etc. My mother in law is a memeber and I've been on several events with her. This is the nicest, most welcoming group of women. Occasionally, husbands go along for things also. If anyone is interested, send me a message and I can get you more info.!!

I know what you mean about interstates. I hate them. Even in my blazer. It used to didn’t bother me but as I’ve got older, I prefer taking the back roads, do about 45 mph and look at scenery. It aggravates my DH sometimes because sometimes it takes us twice as long to get there but I tell him
“The point in riding a bike is to enjoy it, if you want to just go somewhere fast, take the blazer”

My DH prefers the interstate cause he rides all over the country. When he says he is going for beer I have to ask exactly where at, cause that beer might be 3 states away.

I like the pics but what do you ride while it’s down? My DH’s bike was down once for 2 weeks and I nearly kicked his but out. He gets grumpy without his bike.

Rocket, I dont ride anything right now, i just picked up a 75 kawasaki h1 500, two stroke widowmaker. thats the other project i have goin on. The last bike i had before the sportster was in like 1992, an 89 yamaha radian 600. i grew up riding though i learned when I was about 4 yrs old and had all kinds of bikes up intil 92.

My DH used to ride a kawasaki when we met. I think he said it was a Vulcain(?) .

Ooh you would not believe this day.
DH called a little while ago. He is at exit 1 on I-95 in Georgia. He just laid it down. He says he is ok. His leg is a scraped up and bloody. Also, he broke the ignition coil.
I got on Google and found the closet dealership is 38 miles away. So his brother has gone to find one. To make it worst, he has a new one here, that he thought about packing with him just in case.

And it gets worse, while talking to him I looked at our online banking and they stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Jacksonville FL on the way down there because he blew a relay and found a bare wire on the battery and the bike died.
Well I noticed they charged us twice. So I called them and you will not believe this
IT'S ILLEGAL TO SMOKE IN A HOTEL ROOM IN FLORIDA!!!"

The second charge of a $150.00 was a smoking fine.

The guy on the phone said they were cheap. Some hotels charge up to $500.00 a night for smoking.

God I can't wait to see the fines for the 2 nights they stayed in Titusville.

I didn't even dare tell him this on the phone a minute ago cause he is already having a bad day.

So when I got off the phone my daughter yelled from the other room "Hangman has a flat tire on his truck!"

I walked out there and yep it's on the rim. All I coud do is laugh. Could this day get any worst?

Oh yes it can. He's going to get home sometime tonight and I'm going to meet him at the bike with a liqour drink, tell him about the smokeing fines and flat tire, then I'm running!!!!

We got our Honda Goldwing in July.
So we only have done day trips.
My neighbor has offered a few times to care for my pets, but that would be a lot to ask of someone...
We love our rides just exploring around here right now.
Rocket Raley, I am glad your dh is ok.......

When it rains, it pours doesn't it Rocket???

I'm glad he's okay, and I'm sure he takes one look at you and is happy for the rest of the night, no matter what happens!!

Rocket, glad your DH is okay.

Also to add, when I posed this question to my SO....as in, when we go riding what will I do about the chicks? He says he's already planned a gravity feed & water system for the chicken coop and the goat house similiar to the ones they had in the commercial houses (except alot smaller of course). Thus, we really only need someone to check on them from time to time. I am not staying home! Although he's tried talking me into my own bike, I'm perfectly happy on the back of his.
