bird proof chicken feeder plans

I got it at City Mill.. Simple Human is the brand.. It has a plastic mechanism to lift the lid which I think will last longer :) you can do whatever you want with the inner liner, cut it like I did or place other containers inside it.. They just need to be at a height that they can reach but deep enough that food does not fly out during feeding ;) The foot pedal can be made bigger in different ways but so far drilling a bigger piece of wood has worked well :)

I meant 'plans'. Only found this site as it was the link for the 'plans' from a search engine. Glad I found it, but doesn't seem to link me to the plans?

Greetings and welcome to BYC! I think this is the page you're looking for. Look towards the bottom and you'll find a .pdf file with the plans in it. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions with it.

Did the hen eventually figure it out? I'm thinking maybe a much bigger platform that even wraps around a little so anywhere she goes near it, she will have to stand on it and it will open and stay open until she gets off. Pretty cool! I haven't gotten around to looking for the trash barrel yet, but hope to find one soon. Seadrift

Both of them are pros at it.. I'm working on a non wood foot pedal that won't get wet and ruined outside after all this rain! I'm so happy to see they have access to food and the doves haven't eaten it all :) The food stays dry in the rain and even if I leave food in it overnight, it's there in the morning so no rats or cockroaches have gotten to it. I am going to build another one since it is working so well :D

Very cool! I was down Kona all day and even in Walmart and was so busy doing other things, I forgot to look for one (small trash can). Did get two 3'X2' sliced lava slabs at a yard sale though. Outside shower? entryway stone? Not sure yet. I rarely get so many doves anymore, but my chickens are somehow catching, killing, and eating the small doves and finches at a rate of several a week! One nearly every day. The carcasses are always in the outside run with nothihg left but wings and feet! Guess they get mad at one bird eating their food!
I have to pick up a beautiful rooster tomorrow at the Puuwawa Ranch and figure out what to do with him. I already have one. Seems one of the young hens I got for the boss's wife turned out to be a rooster and they don't want him. The former lady owner already has 12 as people keep dropping more off all the time, so she doesn't want him either. Know anybody? I Think he's a barred rock. She has several gorgeous pure bred roosters if you know anyone. They would all be free.
