Birds haven't touched feed in 2 weeks!!!!

Mine free range most of the day, also, but we don't let them out until after 8am. They eat the commercial feed in the early am and bugs, grass, my flowers

the rest of the time. I throw out a few handfuls of scratch to them and also give them cottage cheese, watermelon, tomatos, leftover veggies, etc, so they are getting plenty to eat. My rooster, Rudy is getting real big! I am still waiting on my first egg...

I have always free ranged my chickens. Once the chicks get about 8 weeks
or so we start turning them out to free range also. I will feed as much or more
feed when free ranging compared to the chickens being shut up in the pens
and runs. But my chickens run everywhere they go so I guess they are running
off anything they ate while free ranging. They have 35-40 acre that they
can free range on.
I was just curious though about those who say that there chickens eat so much
less when free ranging. Do you all intentionally put out less feed or do you put out
your regular amount of feed and the chickens just not eat it?
The amount of feed that I feed my free ranging chickens also depends on what
brand and type of feed that I feed.

My feeders are always topped up. Before bedtime they get some hen scratch and BOSS.
In the summer they have feeders outside, hanging under the eaves, as well as inside the coop. I have a healthy flock of Quail who come to eat. I don't mind.

They chickens have been spending a lot of time in the pond area so there must be a lot of bugs around there.

They also get discarded fruit and veggies from the local produce market once a week. Last week they were eating peaches, cantalope, leaf lettuce, corn on the cob and mangos
