Here he is! He looks so awkward.
He's nearly done molting!

Anyone seen an Indigo Bunting? A Scarlet Tanager? Red-Winged Black Bird? Northern Flicker? American Goldfinch?
I know this is an old thread, but I was snooping and saw your post.

This is an Indigo Bunting right now eating below a bird feeder.

They aren't supposed to prefer sunflower seeds, but that's all we have and that's what it's eating there with the squirrels.

Occasionally, we'll see a bunch.

This thread is for all birdwatchers! What birds do you see around you every day? What birds are your favorite? Seen any rarities recently? I'm wondering how many wild bird lovers we can pull out of hiding!

I live in Idaho. Around me I normally see American Robins, European Starlings (invasive), House Sparrows (also invasive), Mallards, Canada Geese, American and Lesser Goldfinches, House Finches, Red-tailed and Swainson's Hawks, Mourning and Collared Doves, and American Kestrels.

My favorite birds are probably American Kestrels and Ospreys, though it's hard to choose because there are so many cool birds!
I live in Ohio, and while I don’t actually birdwatch much, I love watching my chickens.
In terms of wild birds, I have some feeders out front, and I’ve seen chickadees, cardinals, and a hummingbird.

Wow! Those are so pretty! I really hope to see one one day.
I can remember being a Sr. in High School in Minnesota, and one hit our huge picture window and died. It was towards the end of the school year, and mom ran me to school with it for extra credit in our biology class. Our teacher had a wall of stuffed wild birds that was missing an Indigo Bunting. I got an A. That's the last time I had ever seen one until we moved out here. I graduated in 1978. ☺️

Like I said, we don't feed them as I looked up what they ate and sunflower seeds isn't on their list, but that's all we've got here. We just do those as it keeps the sparrows away. They do eat them though!

What else we get are cardinals, evening grosbeaks, chickadees, wrens, nuthatches, goldfinches, snowbirds, five different types of woodpeckers, and a few others I'm probably forgetting.

I couldn't tell anyone how to get them to come as we sure didn't try, but we moved out here 8 years ago and they've come every year. Sometimes one, sometimes a bunch.
