Birdwatching Chat Thread

Anyone seen an Indigo Bunting? A Scarlet Tanager? Red-Winged Black Bird? Northern Flicker? American Goldfinch?
I have three of those! Red-winged Blackbirds are a very common occurrence around here in winter. Flickers are here year-round, as are Goldfinches. I got a good photo of a molting goldfinch the other day, I’ve got to get on the computer and post it.

Here he is! He looks so awkward.

Who says cemeteries are just about death? Years ago, I'd watch when bluebirds would nest in the cap of this gas tank, and clean it out after each brood. I went to pick up trash tonight and this is what I saw when I checked it.

It looks like a nest from last year with some fresh broomsedge to soften it up. And seven blue eggs. I don't know if it's a bluebird but I didn't see any birds near it. (The eggs are on the opposite side of the hole.) I'll be keeping an eye on it. DSC_0802.JPG DSC_0801.JPG DSC_0800.JPG
