Black Australorp... Is he? Or is it a she? **PICS**

This is my Black Australorp. Of course, it's supposed to be a she... but I am starting to wonder. I'd love to hear from people who have experience with BA's, because I know those comb and waddles look really big, but isn't that often the case with BA hens? S/he is around 11 weeks, but not certain on age - she came from an earlier hatch than my other two.

The BR and EE in the background are younger birds - probably by a couple of weeks - in case you are looking at them for size comparison.

Let's have it then! Boy or girl!?

That is a Rooster, for SURE. I have three Black Australorp hens....none of mine have wattles anywhere near that and that tall tail feathers just scream rooster.

I say roo.

Here is a photo of my BA's at 8 weeks:

Sophie is the first gal on the roost (bottom of pic) and then Apolonia (can't miss him) but renamed Apollo. Had to rehome him. He crowed at 9 weeks old

Here are my hens, then at 11wks old

Notice the one in the top right corner looking at the camera...almost no red at that age. The one in the middle to the right of the feeder that you can see the entire side of is another BA, see how her tail feathers sort of just point back? The rooster tail feathers point up, and that first tallest feathers on your Roo's tail will get really big and long.

Here they are at 18wks. Still small wattles.

My 13-week BA pullet has maybe 1/8" of wattle showing and <1/2" light pink comb. Her body is also much rounder while your bird has a very tall stance.

I think it's safe to say you have a cockerel.
