Can relate to the possible power outages,,,, have dealt with my share over the years.

I just like following your progress and look forward to some photos of what results you get this season. Just living vicariously through your efforts..... LOL.

Best of luck, especially with Luella's offspring ! Love that bird.
Haha, you're funny. I have been telling myself for years that I'll start a website/blog etc of all the different interests I have that make this small farm work, but just haven't forced myself to sit down and crank one out. Its on my list for this spring, but so is 100 other things haha

No chickers yet!!!!!!!!!!

But I peeked in them this morning and candled. Could see that they have pipped internally. Hopefully I see some pipping by the time I get home from work today.

Happy Friday Everyone!
Good Luck Pink! Hope you have a great hatch!

We are making repairs to our incubator- our thermostat went out on our last group so we lost all of them

Thanks Hens! And I hope that you get your 'bator fixed up so that we can see some fuzzy butts coming from you pretty soon!

We have 3 chicks from Ravens eggs and my one blue copper baby.

One of the babies from Raven is soooooooooo silver/blue, almost glowing, reminds me of a lavender coloration. The other 2 splash are tinged a yellowish color but I have seen this on lots of splash babies before. All have atleast 2-3 feather stubs on the leg or the outer toes. Will post photos later as the last 2 from Ravens eggs just hatched during the night so when they dry out completely I will snap some photos of them. They are very active and so stinkin' cute!

The other 2 eggs that came from Raven haven't done anything.....but one had that collapsed air cell and the other probably just couldn't make it.

I am happy as a clam with the ones that hatched!

Thanks, we have the part DH just has to get it installed, we did start up our cooler incubator and have the eggs going in there- only about 52 instead of 82 this round. Started it up and it is holding temp very well.

Here is a picture that shows what we hatched about 4 weeks ago- if you look carefully you will see a couple Cuckoo Marans(4) in the group:

we also have these babies here too

They are SWEET!!!!!! Love the bunny too!

I'm in love with the down color of the silvery blueish one! LOVE LOVE LOVE!

I think the other 2 are males....they just have that attitude and stance. I don't know if they have been breed for the wing sexing but they show the telltale signs of males in the wing and the other one shows female.

Their primary pins were already evident at the time of hatch.....quite evident. I think this may have had something to due with the extra time they took to hatch. The primaries when the wing was spread out upon hatch were quite developed. We will see!

Are your birds always this friendly upon hatch Raven? I love it!

I have never tryed to feather sex so I am very interested in your findings! Yes they are very layed back right from the start.
Does anyone have any Solid Black Marans? I would really like to get just one male (want lots of pullets course) I need to find someone willing to share just a few eggs. Please!!

How are Splash Marans feet supposed to look like? I have two pullets one has feathered legs and the other is clean legged. The one with feathered toes has shorter fatter outside toes. They both have all their nails but just thought it looked odd. I will try to load pics soon just go toto find the cord.
