Speckles is a Blue Copper Marans rooster with Splash coloring. It's my understanding if he is bred to Black Copper Marans hens, they would produce straight run Blue Copper Marans. His hatch date was April 26, 2013. He is calm and friendly...and good with kids (my daughter carries him everywhere and he tolerates it and we believe he secretly LIKES it). I wanted to post his picture on this forum, but sadly I also have to list him for sale...how much should I ask for this boy? Mainly I do not want him to be eaten since he was raised by my daughter and is one of her favorite chickens. Does anyone know what a reasonable price for a rooster of his age/looks would be?

It depends on your market. Unfortunately roosters don't go for much. I would start at $15 and be willing to go down to $10. If you meet the people who want him you can get a good idea about them, ask them about their chickens and stuff.

Thanks! I figured it wouldn't be much, but it would be nice if he didn't have to be eaten since he's such a friendly guy...

Hi I have ordered some BCM eggs and wondered if anyone knows the best way to hatch them. I have read several different ways some say sandpaper off some of the egg shell and then others say no that is all wrong . Since the egg shell is so dark I can see where you might need to do something different, does anyone who has hatched alot have any advice? I have hatched some but my hatch rate was not good even for shipped eggs. I would appreciate any advice from someone who has hatched alot of BCM eggs Thanks
