My Americana (about 11-12 weeks old) just got this black hard bump on one of her eyes. It's been there about 2 days now. Sometimes I see a small amount of blood coming from it. This morning I noticed a black dot on her comb as well. What is it and is there anything I need to do to help her out? Thanks

Do you live where there is a mosquito problem? If so, this may e fowl pox. I would put a dab of Neosporin in th eye lesion in case it's something caused by bacteria. Other than that, fowl pox, if that is what this is, has to run its course. There is no treatment other than applying iodine to dry it up.

Thank you for your response. Poor girl. I will put some neosporin on it to keep it from getting infected. I have noticed that we have had mosquitoes in the coop at night. I'm working on getting rid of them but it's seems an uphill battle.
