I also have a 1 year old Black Marans equivalent to a sexlink, half copper marans half Cuckoo marans. I think sexed at hatch. Is that correct?

If you’re asking if that’s a sex link, is it correct. Cuckoo hen x black copper rooster would produce sex links, I believe hatcheries call them midnight majesty marans.

Not to sound stupid but are my blue Marans who are lacking the barring gene sexed at hatch. Female solid male barred?

I don’t think so. Either you were mistakingly sold blues instead of blue cuckoos, or the place you got them from keeps a mixed pen of blues and blue cuckoos that are allowed to breed together.

I believe the local saddle shop orders them from Meyers Hatchery. So anything's possible. I'm just happy to have pullets and I never had blue chicks. I also got a Blue Star. Half Australorp half Barred Rock.

I think blue stars are the same as sapphire gems, which are actually blue sex links, since the cockerels get a barring gene from the BR and the pullets don’t.

Hey I have one like that too! Her name is Pookie! I’m not sure what she is specifically! Her skin underneath her feathers is weirdly tinted black but I don’t know if that means anything?

Mine does not have the black skin only the face and comb. Yours might be it as I've heard described as fibro?????
