I think blue stars are the same as sapphire gems, which are actually blue sex links, since the cockerels get a barring gene from the BR and the pullets don’t.

Mine does not have the black skin only the face and comb. Yours might be it as I've heard described as fibro?????

I should probably also mention that her dad is a blue maran! And that we got them from our neighbor but we don’t know all the hens she has!

Oh yeah maybe I’m pretty sure she has an all black hen I’m just not sure if that’s what her mom is or not? I’m also not sure if that’s what they would look like together? Because her skin isn’t fully black it’s pink with black tinting if that makes sense?

That’s probably because she’s impure for the gene (if she does have it).

Really!? That would be so cool!! I guess we’ll have to see if it stays black faced forever! But she has to be bred with something black feathered (at least) right? In order to be all black feather wise rather than blue? So there is actually a good chance that the all black hen is her mom!? She’s almost 4 months old also (I think I forgot to mention that)

What do you mean? Black feather color isn’t linked to black skin, so you can breed her to whatever rooster you want.
