Hi All - today I noticed two of my hens have what looks like frostbite on their combs! It is not cold here - in the last 24 hours, when I noticed the black tips of the combs, it never got colder than high fifties low sixties. The ONLY thing I did differently than usual is I opened the windows of their coop which I have left closed at night for the winter so they can stay warm. Last night and the night before I left them open overnight because it was warm. We have chicken wire on the outside of the windows for predator protection but why would my girls have black tips on their combs all of a sudden one day. It is not spots like some of the diseases - not black or purple spots, just the tips and outline of their combs are charcoal grey/blackish.
