Black Copper Maran Eggs

Hey, I checked out your site just now. Nice looking chickens! I love it that you have "pure white Amerucans". When I got my Delightful Dozen there was one pure yellow chick. She has turned out to be an EE who is all white with green legs. Tonight my DH was commenting that she is a nicer white than "normal" chickens. I will tell him that it is because she is "pure white". LOL

Hello,
Were the eggs you got from bayhorsebonne nice and dark? What was your hatch rate? I am in California and would like just one bird. Not easy. I finally decided that I either need to purchase the eggs and hatch myself (not sure I want to do that) or just forget it.

Sorry about that! I don't have a webpage for the birds yet as I am still building up the flock and working on color. Of course, you never really stop working on the color! I hope to be in much better shape this fall as far as selling eggs goes. This depends on what kind of color this year's pullets give me though. If you check back with me in late August I should have a better idea.

I also will have black and blue copper marans this fall. I have some pullets from Will Morrow(who got his from Wade Jean, not sure of the spelling) and I am in the process of getting some roos from Ron Presley's line. I also will not know the quality of eggs and color until end of August or first of September.

Hi drom. Bayhorsebonne will hatch the eggs for you for an extra $15. I will be very happy to take any extras off your hands!

Here is a pic of bayhorsebonne's eggs, later in the laying cycle, after they had been laying for eight months. I stopped by her house and these were on the table and I just snapped a shot. It was not a "set up" shot of the best eggs or anything. As you can see, the color varies, but the dark ones are still pretty dark. These birds she is breeding this season are producing mostly a F1 cross between Gene Wade and Ron Presley lines, both well respected breeders in the marans world.

I bought six eggs and put them unde a silkie. All were fertile, one pipped upside down and drowned. Here are the five that hatched.

Here is a young roo from that cross at age three months, three weeks. He is good sized, with gorgeous plumage and a good personality and a nice comb. When I took him over to Donna to have her look at him because i just couldn't believe how pretty he was, her first words were "WOW! I may have to borrow him when he gets old enough! This is exactly what I breed for!" which made me feel really good. I have five roos and am only keeping three. Is the one bird you want perchance a roo? If so, let me know. They are young so I have not made my final choice yet, but no matter what, there will be either two or three available in a few months.

I just recieved my wheaten marans eggs from them on Thursday. They are big and most nice and dark. One of them really had to hurt coming out it was so big. I'm new at this and have never seen eggs that big. Took me a while too to figure out which end was up(larger). Wish me luck on the hatch...I recieved 8. Keeping temp at 100 as it won't stay consistent if I try to leave it on 99. Humidity 45-50ish. Is this okay?

oh, man! her wheatens are GORGEOUS!!! They are huge, as you can tell from the eggs. Your incubator should do okay. If it is a forced air or still, I think consistency is important. You should do better at 100 all the time than 99 part of the time, with hot flashes and frigid moments sprinkled in there. You will have to post photos when they hatch.

Will do...The P.O. played a little cut n toss looks like with the box so hoping they weren't too scrambled...Hope I at least get one baby out of it. The cut didn't get deep enough to touch the eggs thank God.

Hello, I just want to recommend bayhorsebonne as someone to consider if you want to buy Black Copper Maran Eggs. Here is a picture of 4 of the chicks she hatched for me. They are about 12 weeks old. All of them have wonderful dispositions. I had three roos and Onthespot graciously took them from me because of our LA zoning laws. Someday I'll move out to the country. Bayhorsebonne is wonderful to work with.
