Black Copper Maran Pullet or Roo

I know Daisy is a David but it's hard to let go. Today, he's 9 weeks old. He's so handsome. He's not crowing yet. I hope I'm wrong about your new batch. I hope they're all pullets.

He is SOO handsome! When did he get his copper? Patrick has blue in his black feathers but still no copper. Can you keep him if he decides not to be the crowing kind of rooster?

I'm wishfully thinking that maybe my new babies have a bit less comb than my roo-babies did. We'll see.

I'm fortunately out in a rural area where there are no rooster restrictions and actually no neighbors close enough to be disturbed. We'll need to see how it goes with the boys. We'll see how well they can behave themselves once the testosterone kicks in.

Hmmm... Let me see how it works out with my boys first. I also want to see how many roos I have in my new batch.

If I do end up building a rooster bachelor pad I will probably want to have two or three nice boys in it so they can keep each other company. My two little guys are inseparable right now!

Ok, my new babies are 18 days old today, and I'm thinking I have at least a pullet or two in the mix! Baby BCM Petunia in particular is still looking quite girly.



For comparison, here are my two little super-precocious roos at 18 days. Note the giant pink combs, and wattles!
