A month ago I bought four beautiful Black Copper Marans chicks from a very nice local gentleman. They're from the Wade Jean C1 line. Now that they're about 5 weeks along, I figured I'd take a shot at posting some pics, and see if you guys see any indications of roosterhood! I don't want no stinkin' roosters! (The city also says no roosters.) I haven't noticed anyone being more aggressive, upright or noisy than the other three.
Let's start with Prospective Pullet #1 ... God but this bird was fast. I hardly got any good pictures of this 'un.
Bird #2 ... He/she was really giving me the stink-eye in the end.
Bird #3. This one has a touch of copper all over, very pretty, sweet thing.
Bird #4, the smallest of the bunch. By this time my preschooler was "helping," hence the fuzziness ...
So those are my Marans! Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. I'm getting better at picking out the men. It's still fun to guess, right? And even if there's no way to know for sure right now, you know what they say ... "Lay or crow, then you'll know!"
