Bandit and the girl who really wants bandy to be a hen.

Okay friends, it's been a week since our split gender prediction. Here is Bandit the Dark Lord today at 5 weeks and some change (hatch date around the 17th of April I think) I thought Bandit as a likely cockerel early but today I'm thinking pullet. Virtually no comb and wattle growth since last week.

Anyone have a 4wk old that can share pics? I'm still unable to share pics but I want to see yours:)

I didn't take pics when they were 4 wk old but 1 of my cockerel had red comb and wattles at 10 days and another one at 3 weeks. the first one started to baby crow at 6 wk and at 7 wk he says: coo-coo.

thank you. Ive been worried I grabbed a Cockrel but these marans seem to have larger combs than regular female chicks. No crowing or wattles at all, only thing the others pick about is her feathered legs.

Anybody need a Black Copper Marans rooster?

He is of the french style with feathered feet, is absolutely gorgeous. 1 year old next month, no spurs yet. Was told is of the 'Wade Jeane' line from Alabama. Is a great rooster, really takes care of his hens. Is cool to see him courting, dancing for, and feeding his hens tidbits.
Raised him from a dark brown egg, was hoping for a hen but, ya get what ya get. Cant keep him as our city has a no rooster law. Animal control has already been by here and told me he has to go. :( Would like to see him go to someone who will value him not put him in a stew pot.

If anyone is interested please contact me. Like wise if anyone know of a rooster rescue or someplace that might like him. I'm in Norfolk, VA

Will add a picture as soon as I figure out how, lol.

that has been my experience, too, that they are pretty quick to show first rooster characteristic with voices. I have had them crow and sound like a strangling bullfrog. Had to study on who it was as no other 'tell' was yet showing as far as plumage. It is not quite a crow, sort of reminds me of how a young teen boy's voice cracks. The cockeral looked sort of stunned that such a sound came out of his own self. Have a blessed day and safe holiday. Donna in Dandridge, Tennessee

If he is of good type, I may be interested. I'm in central PA. Theta no way I can drive that far though. If you could meet me somewhere, that may be a possibility. My one good roo for breeding had side sprigs and the other two are related to my pullets (brothers). If you could pm me a picture when you get a chance that'd be great.
