Black Copper Marans discussion thread

Anyone in the North Florida Area (Tallahassee) interested in BCM cockerels (LP and GFF 2015 import)? PM if you are. I have 4 age 17 weeks.

I bought French Black Copper Marans in Deere Park WA, They are approx. 7 weeks old Legs are extremely feathered. Feet and shank are yellow. 7 chics straight run 5 cockerals One has cooper hackels and crowing. The feet should not still be yellow, right. Help

Where did you get your chicks? I've only see 2 sellers on craigslist. . 1 in chattory 6 00 each 1 in cdl..10 00 each.. I ended up getting a few eggs off ebay.. I have 4 chicks now..

Your right.. I would say no..

These males all appear to have nice long backs. I like the green sheen on the feathers also. looking good so far.

Therefore they are not Black Copper Marans.

If they have yellow shanks and feet they would most likely be mixed with something else.

Thank you so much Snowbird. I have read all 1200+ pages of this thread. The wife and I retired and I'm starting to love chickens as much as she does. She has 10 laying hens and I decided I needed some of my own. When I was in school, along time ago, I was taught BUYER BEWARE. Craigs list is fun but you are always at risk. Everything that Snowbird has said and others is very true. I'm going to eat these yellow legged birds and find some real Black Copper Marans. Thank you again. TOM
