Bravo, If you have the CORID I would go ahead and use it for the coccidia as I know it will work. If you use the garlic powder and it does not work you will loose all the chicks. A big chance to take on something that is not proven. Don

Sherman is now 19 weeks. He is crowing like a champ. His ladies are 17 and 19 weeks. No closer to laying. My three EE hens are doing alright but I've only gotten one egg a day the last 3 days.

Here's pics! I'm am more and more pleased with my rooster boy. What do you guys think of his development? (To recap, he is a blue copper Wade line. I have a blue copper hen and two BCM hens, all Wade.) I don't know which BCM is behind him as I tell them apart by their leg feathering.

Just to be clear, I didn't say "stop using the Corid". Garlic can be used safely with standard medications and there's no such thing as "resistance" to it. It's an additional measure that can be taken, like giving them powdered milk.

Bravo - cocci is not from being on soil; it is from spores caused by too much dampness - if they spill their waterer, for example, and you don't get all the wet out (it can be hard to see what is wet sometimes!), this is a fast track to Cocci. Make sure to give yogurt when you're done treating to put the good bacteria back in their gut - the Sulmet/Corid will remove the good as well as the bad gut bacteria. Sorry if this has already been posted, I haven't been here in a bit.

Sabella - your Sherman is GORGEOUS!

Thanks Don. They have been on Corid since Saturday night and knock on wood no one is getting worse and my little girl is making leaps and bounds in her recovery. When I got home she was walking (she hasnt been able to really walk for almost 5 days) and to top it off she walked over to her food and water and ate/drank.

I was thinking to use the garlic in the water in addition to the Corid and vitamins I am currently using.

Thanks Wynette! I didn't realize that. Now that I think back, I did have some extra rowdy chicks in this brood that kept knocking over the waterer. Normally at about a week old I switch everyone over to waterbottles for sanitary purposes. With these guys I didn't do that until they were about 2 weeks old.

I could kick myself.

I have chicks hatching this weekend. I might start them immediately on the water bottle. I found this little "training wheel" water bottle for birds at Petco. The little ball bearing is red so it encourages them to peck--it works great with switching my week olds.

I went to Whole Foods on my way back to work and bought raw milk and raw and active yogurt so that will be mixed in their dinner tonight.

Word of caution on the milk, you will need to keep an eye on roundworms as the milk will make them grow like spaghetti. Don

By default, do all birds have roundworms? I'm so confused...

They are only 3 weeks old--they have never been outside. I dont normally treat with Ivermectin until they are older. I don't want to add any additional strain on their systems right now. What should I look out for?

Word of advice here.....
Corid (Amprolium) is a Thiamine blocker (Vit B). You do NOT want to put vitamins in the water with it. NO vitamins with Amprolium. Actually, when you use any kind of medication or the like in the water, you should not add anything else to it.
