Black Copper Marans discussion thread

They have to be exposed to the eggs in feed or fecal matter. Not to be a One Note Nellie, but raw garlic kills roundworms and their eggs, too.

It sounds like they're already doing better; take heart!

Thank you!

Question--everything I have read on BYC says 1/2 tsp of 20% Corid powder to a gallon of water and this site says 1 tsp per gallon. What is right?

I would use at least 1 tsp each gallon. Be very careful of any directions you read anywhere on internet unless you verify. Don

I've never had to buy Corid; surely there are instructions on the package? When in doubt, follow the instructions.

Unless you're putting together a massive wooden bunk bed for your sons and the instructions were written by a Vietnamese person with a very poor grasp of English. (don't ask)

I mix the entire package as a stock solution and use 1 oz each gallon. The package lists three different levels of the mixture, the high mixture would be roughly just under 1 tsp a gallon and the middle mixture most use would be little over a 1/2 tsp. each gallon. So I would go with 1/2 tsp for normal treatment and 1tsp if it is real bad, at the high dose only do it three days and drop down to the 1/2 tsp dose for three or four days. Don

Directions on the package were not conducive to implementation in small volumes. I don't have the exact verbiage with me but something about mixing a 10 oz package to 155 gal of water for cattle.

Here's a chart.

By different calcs, I'm not really sure what .064517 or .08 oz looks like....

There was a post on here where someone converted it to 1/2 tsp. Here is the post https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=260948&p=1

As
you can see--no info has come easy.

Thanks Don. So far no one is super sick. I would hate to OD them.
