Black Copper Marans discussion thread

When you say this are you talking about the toe nail missing on the outer toe. In feather leg breed this is not a DQ,

The young bird is for sure a Male.

Brachydactyly is a genetic disorder common in the feather footed breeds of chicken. It is the majority of the outside toe

missing on both feet it is not just the nail that's missing it goes up to about the second knuckle and sometimes even more I will post a couple of pictures. I am not sure what DQ is...i would like to learn if your willing?

That is a cockerel, sorry about that. Sometimes the cards aren't in our favor, hopefully I won't be considered too negative by saying that sometime birds are just meant to be culled. But you might find or even be the perfect home for him, some people keep roos just to protect the ladies.

I am almost positive they are just saying it is considered a fault but isn't a disqualifying factor in this case. (correct me if I am wrong) @snowbird I deducted that info from this site http://www.pathfindersfarm.com/Cagecards2.html .

In the APA SOP it states that the Rudimentary outer toe is not to be penalized in feather leg breeds.
