That is Mossy-ness..... I would not worry about it YET. If it does not molt out, then you can worry about it. Rumor has it that the mossy females lay the darkest eggs. If they are roos, they will probably be over colored. All my original birds had it to some degree, molted out and they lay a nice dark egg.Just got my new Black Copper Marans chicks yesterday. I am new to the breed but I have never seen this much color in 2 week old chicks. Is this normal? I appreciate any information and apologize for the picture being upside down but I hope you can see what you need to see. I have 2 other chicks from a different source that look like what I would expect a 2 week old bcm chick to look like.
