Black Frizzle Cochins

I just bought a pair of Black Frizzles bantams, they are 3 months old and I can hold both of them in one hand! They had been with there mother so the guy that owned them was worried about them in the cold so I have them in my basement til it warms up. I take them out for awhile when its nice. They also come upstairs once in awhile.

I have one black frizzle cochin hen, Michelle. She was really badly damaged by the RIR roos, but I rehomed the roos. Now she is fully feathered out and quite beautiful. None of my adopted chickens are really friendly, but Michelle will sometimes eat out of my hand. She is a very sweet hen and we love her wild feathers!

Harmon 7 Yes let them roam, mine free range with the REAL chickens.

Mac did you get them all at the same time? It may have been a pecking order thing, and the frizzle doesnt have much of a chance against a RIR roo. If you want friendly chickens, stop by the house, and get a handfull of candy(scratch) you will need more Laproom to fit the friendlies. The Frizzle roo will seek you out if your in the yard so he can be picked up.

Oh yes, they make good pets, especially for children. But unfortunately the only lay a few eggs a week and have quite low quality meat.........but you can have them as pets or showbirds.

Good luck!

Hi!
This is Chaps (the mother, grandmother, great-grandmother of all my frizzles).

I have lots of frizzles and most of them have no problem flying or 'getting along' in a pen with bigger birds.
Their feathers get raggedy pretty fast from 'over mating', especially from a larger roo.
I have 1 smooth roo with 20-something frizz girls.

Happy Holidays,
Lisa
