My daughter named our black cat "Salem" when she was 2. From Sabrina the Teenage Witch show. It fits him since he acts like he's possessed half the time. Gotta say, I love "Jynx".

I had a black cat up till last october (had cancer had to put him down) was my best friend since i was 3 his name was Scooby because when i was younger i was obbsesed with that show! Best cat i ever had. A friend of mine also had one named Tara. Just about a year younder than mine.

I had a black Fremont - he was supposed to be part of a duo.
The other kitten was to be named Grace - both would then be named after my cross streets.
Well, we never got a Grace, but had Fremont for 17 years.

Now I have a "visiting" black cat at my barn.
No spraying so I am assuming it's a female.
I am calling her Black Betty and - after nearly a year - she knows her name and has (mostly) stopped hissing at me.
She shows up for meals and has been accepted by my other barncat (female) indy.
Poor thing has an inured foreleg and limps, so who knows how she was treated by people before now.

We have a mottled black barn cat that showed up one day and stayed. She recently had 6 kittens, 3 of which are black.

My kids named them:
Pocah (short for Pocahontas-momma).
Pippi
Stache (short for moustache- he has a white one) and
Dei (pronounced Day)
