EE fan. I love, love them - not that I have many yet.
Chloe left and Amelia right
Chloe's daughters - their father is a Splash Orpington (Versace)
I call them the Berry girls - Marionberry and Blueberry
Chloe's son - father is Versace
Marilyn (yes I wanted a Monroe and got a Manson
)
I really need to get some pictures of my newest ee babies - I have one from Amelia finally.
Marilyn was destine for the freezer, but he has such a loving, charming personality that he now is waiting for me to build him a coop so he can have his own harem. He is a total snuggle bunny. Chloe lays a nice blue/green egg and both her girls lay a greenish or a blue/green egg.
Might sound silly to some, but I would love to combine the full feather fluffyness of the big large bodied Orpington with the muff/beard and blue egg gene of the EE. I would love to have large, full fluffy EEs - so I am slowly starting a program to experiment with (not that I want to create a different breed or change the ees, just add a twist to my yard). I know

Marionberry and Blueberry have GORGEOUS lacing!!
The EE's you'll love, the Brahmas I know are my FAVORITE of my hatchery-bought flock, and Penedesencas I don't have. Who are you getting these all from?
I'd be very excited too though - I can't wait to get some Buff Brahmas from a really good breeder down in South Carolina.
Horsefeathers...Marilyn may be the prettiest...I mean most handsome chicken I have seen! He is like a hodgepodge of colors! He is Beautiful! And I don't think your idea sound funny! I love BIG birds!
Illia..There is a big swap meet here in Canada this weekend. I am meeting up with a few fellow byc'er but most of the eggs are from skeffling Lavender farm(thanks Claire!) I have 4 light Brhamas now and fell In love with them. I can't wait for them to start laying(too excited) so though I'd buy some more hatching eggs! I literally have dreams of the bluey green eggs from the ees in the same carton as the chocolatey penedescenca eggs and a few of my sumatras white eggs and even the light pinkish ones the plmouth rocks sometimes lay! Its going to be beautiful.
Also I could literally sit for hrs and just watch the chickens in the yard. They are so interesting and I find the Brahmas very impressive!
Taraann is that a Bullmastiff in your avatar? Gorgeous.
I have 2 EEs I bought locally and although they're young yet, 5 weeks, I really enjoy them. Brahmas are on my list of "must haves"..
I only heard about Pens from here, but I think I might like them some day, too. From what I've gathered they'll be more flighty then your EEs or Brahmas.
Horsefeathers, those are awesome pictures of beautiful chickens!
Quote: new2chooks - I am so embarrassed, I honestly have no idea (besides putting the eggs under a hen or in the incubator
) and well, had no idea what Chloe's color even was. (I cannot use the fabulous color calculator that everyone talks about to save my life
)
Here are my latest well the ones I kept, sold 10 out of the hatch. The two blues are Chloes, the light partridge? colored one on the far left/by the light is my first out of Amelia.
