I can remember my cousin had chickens when I was little. I remember him saying something about black poop...like someone spilled a little used motor oil in the pen. I have read about different diseases, and none of them that I read mention black poo, just bloody poo. I recently talked to him, and he said, no blood, just slick looking black poop. He didn't think anyone died from it, they butchered and ate the birds when they were ready, but he did wonder what caused it.
