Yes I have netting over my whole large pen and have painters poles and other things to hold it up. My friend that I sold 4 of my Mallards to a few years ago had them fly off but also told me that he has an Eagles nest not far from his place. Hopefully they just decided to leave and the eagle did not get them but it is possible that it did. They were free range with a pond daily and then put in the coop at night. Good luck with your setup. Predators show no mercy for our birds.grass is good for our animals ,make them happy .
yeah i think my chooks will love the new place for sure , problem we have here is birds of prey .sort of eagle or something else ,haven t see it my self ,but the owner of the place lost most of his chooks to this eagle .
I m thinking about putting a fruit mesh over my chooks runs to protect them . bamboo will keep them safe when they are in it but for them to have axcess to the grass they need to go to the open area ,there the eagle will strike .
lot work to do any way but no way I will let the animal eat my chooks .lot time and money been spent on them to get them where they are now .I have the best marans strain in the country ,spent years and years of breeding them to SOP .I can t afford loosing them .
