Hey y'all, we've cracked 3 eggs from our backyard within the last week that have had black, horrendous smelling yolks. They are not old eggs and we do not have a rooster so they can be fertilized. I am not sure if they came from the same hen or different ones. What could be happening?!

Just 2 thoughts If they make any difference
1. We have a very broody australorp but we pull the eggs from under her when we collect
2. It's July in the Midwest...hot!

Help! I'm afraid someone may be sick.

First thought would be the bloom is getting disturbed and causing the eggs to go bad. Experiment by collecting fresh eggs and putting them in the fridge abd using them as normal. Very very few thibgs cause an egg to turn black on the inside.

Thanks for the input, could you explain what you mean by the bloom bring disturbed? Sorry, I'm fairly new at this and we've had great luck so far. Thanks in advance!

Can we get a picture?
It's certainly a bad idea to eat an egg that smells bad. If the egg was only a couple of days old, I would definitely say something is wrong
