I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what is wrong with Wanda. We just moved from town, out to the country, a week ago Thursday. The move was relatively uneventful but moves are always stressful regardless. We moved their coop and run so the girls are in the same setup we had in town. I noticed that all 3 girls are much quieter out here but starting Friday evening and particularly yesterday, Wanda is not acting right. She's not moving around much. I sat in the run with her for quite awhile yesterday and she's not having any difficulty breathing, definitely not egg bound, her crop feels fine and she's not closing her eyes or hunching up in pain. I don't see any weird poo and nobody's vent looks messy. Her eyes and nostrils looked clear yesterday but this morning there are some grass pieces stuck to her beak which made me wonder if she's congested. I did notice her sister peck at her head once yesterday. Last time we moved, there was a bit of head pecking until everyone settled down but it's not typical with my three. Wanda drank water and half-heartedly pecked at a piece of pear but wouldn't eat scratch grains. She was very interested in me and climbed on my lap and then settled down next to my knee. She kept looking up at my face very interestedly while I was talking to her and wanted to peck the freckles on my hands. The only things that are just odd is that she's so quiet and moving slowly and not moving much compared to normal. When she lies down in the run, she looks relaxed with her tail up and not with ruffled feathers or hunching. Also, there's a bit of yellowish, waxy buildup on the feathers around her head and the black spots on her comb. I don't know if the black spots are related or the result of pecking. These girls are 3 years old and never had a day of sickness in their lives. There's no sneezing, coughing or any kind of odd sounds going on. I'm at a loss to know what's going on. None of the 3 have ever been broody and I didn't change their feed or routines other than the move from one property to another.

Pretty Australorp! One of my favorite breeds. It looks like she is just being picked on a little bit. They all are probably just a little stressed. :)
Thank you! I hope it’s just that! My dad grew up on a farm with chickens and that’s his gut feeling - that it’s just stress. I’m going to go out and sit with them for awhile again this afternoon and I bought some meal worms to tempt her appetite! We heard coyotes the night this started and she has never heard them before. Poor babies!
