Just noticed these black spots on my hen’s comb. It’s cold where I live but hasn’t been below 10 degrees and is usually in the lows about 25 degrees, highs in the 40-50. She seems to be acting fine other then I’m worried she’s discovered to eat her own eggs. (Found a broken egg with the shell half eaten today)

Looks like it could be a wound from another chicken pecking her, it will eventually heal and there is nothing to worry about. And even if it was frostbite nothing can be done because if you touch the comb it could get worse. A few of my girls have frostbite from the negative 30 degree temps with the wind it was negative 40.

She is the bottom of the pecking order so that would make sense. Poor chickens. They are ruthless with the picking on others.

Mine do it all the time, well mainly the cinnamon queen who thinks she is the queen. She picks on my orpington all the time, but now the Cinnamon queen and my austrolorp both have minor frostbite.
