I have black spots in the bottom of my duck egg. day 20. duck still alive. i can see it move. but does anyone know what the black spots are? or why they happen?

does the black spot move and wiggle around? if so i'd say it your baby duck...when i incubated my first batch of quail eggs the one i egg i could see into when i candled had veining and a black spot that wiggled and move and it was the chick

no. the duck is above it separated. its at the bottom of the egg. if you can see in the pic it looks like a black blood spot or ink blot. and it doesnt move.

could be bacteria. but from what it looks like up close im leaning more towards a blood clot. is that bad? im only 2days from stopping turning. it seems like the eggs are at different stages. idk. its crazy how much goes into incubating! im discouraged

Never lose hope !
If it is bacteria chick should be dead by now so may be it isn't bacteria
About a blood clot I think 2 days before lock down eggs move from side to get in haching position
May be he clawed his own nerve just treat it like and other egg DON'T PANIC
After 3 days of expected hatch date it's safe to call it of if no hatch and then open it up and see and post pics so we find out what it was and how u could avoid it :)

Ok. yeah i can still see all of them moving. is it ok to stop turning a day early? a couple eggs look farther along than others.. i started incubating all at the same time but some look like they are at different stages??

Different stages might be because all eggs arnt getting same amount of heat
Try placing all ur eggs in one place putting eggs in other places of incubator can affect it
And r ur eggs all at one hight?
Eggs that r higher experince more heat as hot air travels up
You can stop turning 3 days before lock down because I don't know in ducks but in chickens after day 14 they get in hatching position it's not needed to turn eggs
