Black stuff on comb?

It is the middle of summer where I’m at, and one of my friends Roos has some black stuff on his comb, no, it’s not dirt, here’s a picture.

She said that they have over 10 Roos, so I was thinking that he got attacked? She has some dogs and some cats too, I don’t think it was a dog tho, her husband thinks that it’s a black fungus? I don’t know, any replies would be greatly appreciated!! She is very worried... Thanks!!

It appears to be dried blood. With SO many roosters theee was most likely a fight between them ending up with a bloody comb, which would’ve dried and turned the blackish color.
