Blacksnake caught!!! Picture included with my poor silkie in belly.

I would have done the same thing with that snake if I had a pig. Since I don't ... I would have shot or machete'd him. You did the right thing in your sons eyes. Shoot ... you did the right thing in mine.

My heart goes out to your son. Poor guy.

Thanks, It was what I thought was killing the chicks to begin with so I decided something had to be done. Been working on the car so even if I wanted to relocate, wasn't gonna happen.

Good, the snake got the same fate as the poor chicks, I leave all wild creatures alone until they come after my pets, then they are fair game.

can you hear me now? :

I relocated the snake into my pig pen

I'm sorry for your loss, but I have to say that the above statement made me laugh out loud!

I will have to say reading that you laughed out loud made me do the same. First I chuckled at the fact that you laughed out loud, then I laughed when I read it as well.

It's a pig eat snake eat chicken world.

Natural law - nothing eats rock.

He was better to see we got rid of the snake. On the other hand I gave him the buff brahma bantam and he seemed to be happy with that. Yes I did what I thought was right for the situation.

I think the lesson for your son wasn't "vengence" but rather, "we need to protect our birds better". After all, snakes will be snakes. Killing one will not protect your chickens, others will come after it.

I wouldn't try to teach irrational fears or anger, rather prudence and proper care of your flock.
